BCC IT are proud to sponsor the very talented 9-year-old European Junior golfer Dion Regan who has added a string of achievements to his belt.

Dion has worked hard at his training in the last few years and has a current handicap of 16. Winning many local competitions, with his first major win at the Celtic Manor Resort, where he firstly qualified and later became the under 8;'s Champion of the 'Welsh Mini Masters'.

He won twice on the European Junior Tour in Prestatyn and Brookfield, Chester and has qualified to the Grand Final of the British Wee Wonders' Tournament two years running, where he played the final at St Andrews, coming in tied 5th position. He's won two events on the Welsh Junior Tour and gained a 5th place finish in the British Championship held at the famous Woodhall Spa Golf Course.

Dion’s other recent achievements include:

1. Presented with the Talented Junior Award for Golf by The Ceredigion Sports Council at Penmorfa Aberaeron.

2. Came 29th position out of 78 top players in the 2nd biggest junior golfing event of the world at Gullane No 3, East Lothian Scotland with Us Kids.

3. Came 4th in the International British Championship with Us Kids at Celtic Manor-a two day event.

4. Winner of Carmarthen Junior Open.

5. Winner of Cilgwyn’s Junior Captain’s Day.

6. Winner of Dyfed’s Junior Prize Day competition at Cardigan Golf Club.

7. 2nd in the Men’s Order of Merrit in the Player Of The Year Competition at Cilgwyn.

8. Met and played nine holes with the great touring pro Richard James.

9.  Played his first 36 hole event at Newport Pembs in the Dyfed Junior County.

10. Continues to be part of the Dyfed Junior Golf under 14s at 9 years old.

Lisa Regan, Dion’s mum added,

“Dion started swinging a club at age fourteen months after receiving his first plastic golf set from his scratch golfer dad and living so close to Cilgwyn Golf Club, near Lampeter, it was inevitable that Dion would follow in his father's footsteps.

In his spare time, Dion enjoys performing, playing football for Lampeter, the drums, hockey and snooker.  His golfing heroes are Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson and he was ecstatic to see Garcia wearing the green jacket after his first Major win at Augusta. Dion is a thoughtful child, who has the ability to socialise with children and adults from all walks of life, an old head on young shoulders type. He loves spending time with his family and often visits the Vale, his grandparents' pub for a game of pool, a packet of crisps and a pint of squash with the locals. We are proud to see his development and achievements in the last few years.”
