Carmarthen cyclist joins the world tour team

Thursday, 5 October 2017

Award winning Carmarthenshire based IT Company BCC IT are pleased to see the local cyclist they sponsor step up to World Tour Team as neo-pro with Team Dimension Data for Qhebuka in 2018.

In 2016, Scott Davies from Carmarthen who, until signing with Dimension Data rode for Team Wiggins, become the first rider in history to claim three consecutive under-23 men’s British time trial titles. This year, he extended the record, winning the title again, making it his fourth U23 British Time Trial title. He also finished second in the GB U23 National Championships Road Race before narrowly missing out on a podium place at the gruelling Giro Ciclistico d'Italia, the U23 version of the Giro d’Itlaia where he placed 4th on the General Classification. Last month, he finished 10th in the Under-23 Time Trial at the World Championships in Bergen to add to his achievements.

Hywel Ifans, Director of BCC IT said,

“We are extremely proud to see Scott take the next step, it is truly an honour to support and see him make such great achievements. He works incredibly hard and absolutely deserves this opportunity. We wish him continued success in his future races.”

Qhubeka is an Nguni word that means “to carry on”, “to progress”, “to move forward”. Qhubeka believes that mobilising people with bicycles can change lives through creating access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka believes that Bicycles Change Lives too.

Qhubeka isn’t an afterthought, it is the reason we clip in and ride, the incentive to go out and train, and our motivation to win races. This is why we invite you to join our mission to fund 5,000 bicycles for people through Qhubeka.”
