Croatia: From Rally Roads to the Majorette Stage

Ioan Lloyd Rallying -The Final Round

The sixth and final round of the FIA Junior European Rally Championship from October 3rd – 5th, saw Ioan Lloyd and co-driver Sion Williams heading to Croatia.

Following an incredible debut season, the pair arrived lying in second place, and were determined to hold their position against some of Europe’s toughest competition – and despite not making it to the finish line, their consistency and speed throughout the competition proved to be enough to secure second place overall – a huge achievement for the young Welsh team in only their debut year at this level.

The Croatia Rally covered 180 kilometres of ten demanding stages on notoriously low-grip asphalt – some of the slipperiest Ioan has ever faced – with wet conditions adding an extra layer of challenge. A puncture on Saturday’s third stage cost them a minute, but smart decision-making kept them in contention. By evening they had fought their way back into the podium places and were sitting comfortably in third place heading into the final day.

Sunday was all about survival. Despite treacherous, rain-soaked roads, their pace remained competitive – within just a few seconds of the rally leader. Unfortunately, a slow-speed spin on one of the final sections dropped them out of the running for a podium finish, but it didn’t affect their overall championship result.

Reflecting on the season, Ioan described Croatia as “really, really, tricky,” but full of positives, as it ultimately sealed their place as one of Europe’s most promising young teams. From a small corner of West Wales to the international rally stage, Ioan and Sion have once again shown true resilience, teamwork, and talent. Congratulations on being confirmed as Championship runners up!

We are proud to have been part of Ioan’s incredible journey this year, and he is already working on plans for 2026 … and we can’t wait to see what’s next.

Chloe Brettle – Baton Twirling for Wales

Staying in Croatia – Our sponsored baton twirler, Chloe Brettle, who we introduced in our very first Sponsorship Spotlight blog back in February Sponsorship Spotlight – BCC IT – also headed there during October to represent Wales in the Majorette European Championships.

Earlier this month, I was honoured to be invited to attend the team’s Sponsorship and Showcase evening to see first-hand the incredible dedication, discipline, and team spirit behind their success.

After the initial opening act, Chloe was first to perform her solo 101 Dalmations themed routine. When a brief technical issue interrupted the music, she carried on without missing a beat, in a display of confidence and professionalism beyond her twelve years. With music quickly restored, Chloe returned to deliver an equally graceful repeat performance, along with a dynamic circus themed duet and team routines that rounded off a wonderful evening.

When I later caught up with Chloe’s mum Catherine, she was delighted to share that the team achieved a Silver place for Wales, which is an incredible accomplishment on the European stage. Chloe and her duet partner, Maisie James, placed 10th in their duet category, while Chloe also secured 17th in her charming solo performance, dressed in the style of Cruella Deville, against a further 26 competitors. As the two youngest in their duet and solo category, Chloe and Masie have shown exceptional promise and pride in representing Wales.

Chloe continues to impress us, both in competition and as an ambassador for her sport, balancing her school studies with a level of skill and commitment that reflects what it means to represent Wales on the international stage.

I truly enjoyed the show and appreciated the team’s welcome and hospitality, and BCC IT are extremely proud to support both Ioan and Chloe in their journeys. Each excelling in their own disciplines, flying the Welsh flag, and showing what can be achieved through passion and perseverance.
