Weathering the Seasons, Shaping the Future

July swept in under a blaze of sunshine – just long enough to lull us into thoughts of hot beach days and sizzling barbecues, before the skies opened in almost perfect synchrony with the start of the school summer holidays. And if the old proverb proves true, the sudden downpour on St. Swithin’s day may have sealed our fate to forty days (and nights) of rainy days. 

While we might have found ourselves swapping sunhats for umbrellas and flip-flops for wellington boots, we’re reminded that neither rain or folklore is a stranger to the ancient and verdant countryside of West Wales. It’s all part of our rich heritage – a landscape shaped as much by weather as by history.  

Yet beyond the scenery, what truly defines us is our resilience and commitment. Come rain or shine we continue to support and shape our communities – locally and nationally – in ways that are both meaningful and modern in today’s world.  

And much like the seasons, our work never stands still.

This month, we’ve delivered super-fast internet connections and upgraded Wi-Fi systems to eliminate dead zones and improve performance to ensure our clients stay online and productive – wherever they are.

To ensure our clients have the tools they need to work efficiently, we’re continuing to replace older servers, computers and workstations with faster, more reliable and secure devices. Our teams have upgraded security systems – installed CCTV – and tidied up cabling with new cabinets following a major refurbishment project – creating more efficient workspaces.

Cloud technology is transforming the way businesses operate. We’ve supported multiple clients in migrating to Microsoft 365, enabling smarter collaboration through Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams – ensuring the transition is smooth, secure and stress-free.

Protecting clients from online threats is a top priority. Our Cyber Security Team has been proactively identifying software vulnerabilities, decommissioning outdated hardware, and conducting Cyber Essentials and PCI compliance assessments to keep our clients protected.

🎓 Welcoming a new member of the Team

This month we’re delighted to welcome Marley Plant to BCC IT, as our new Digital Growth Officer. Marley has a strong foundation in digital technology, having recently graduated from Aberystwyth University. His passion for innovation started early, with hands-on experience through Technocamps, Bootcamps, and the universities Robotics Club from the age of just ten.

Marley is joining us part-time and will be collaborating on the growth of our online content and digital presence. We’re proud of the exciting new features already beginning to take shape behind the scenes, and Marley’s input will help us elevate and expand this even further in the months ahead. This development is an exciting asset to our team, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon.
